Frequently asked questions
Tumbling classes focus primarily on floor skills like rolls, handstands, back walkovers, and flips, so the majority of time is spent on the spring floor and trampolines. If your child is eager to work on all four gymnastics events regularly, a rec gymnastics class might be a better fit!
No prior tumbling experience is needed! Our tumbling classes are open to all levels and are designed to meet each child where they’re at. Whether your child is just starting out or looking to improve existing skills, our coaches will guide them step by step in a fun and supportive environment.
Your child should wear athletic clothing that’s comfortable and allows for movement—leotards, or a fitted t-shirt and shorts or leggings, work great. Please avoid clothing with zippers, snaps, or buttons, as these can be unsafe on equipment. Tumbling is done barefoot, so no special shoes are needed. Make sure their hair is pulled back and bring a water bottle to stay hydrated during class!
Tumbling classes are structured to build strength, coordination, and skill progression in a fun and focused environment. Each class begins with a dynamic warm-up and stretch to prep the body. From there, students move into skill-building stations on the spring floor and trampolines, working on fundamentals like handstands, cartwheels, walkovers, round-offs, and flips—tailored to their level. Coaches may also incorporate drills for strength and flexibility, and the class often ends with a short conditioning or game segment to keep things fun and engaging!
